  National Health Care Means Higher State Taxes  
 

Will Tennessee’s state sales tax go up another penny in the next couple of years? Let’s hope not, but we’ll probably find out the odds within the next two or three months. And we’ll know whom to blame when it does.

 
  Who Judges the Judiciary?  
 

This past state legislative session there was a real political battle between the people and appellate court judges (including the state Supreme Court) over how those judges should be elected, using the term “elected” very loosely. The majority of the legislature sided with those who judge us, leaving the public with really little meaningful input and leaving us with the question of who judges the judges.
