Welcome to the online home of the Family Action Council of Tennessee (FACT). I am privileged to partner with you in protecting the interests of Tennessee families.

Let me tell you a little about myself and this grassroots organization. I served for 12 years as a Tennessee state senator, and then in 2006 I retired from politics to become the first executive director of FACT. The same thing that motivated me to seek public office years ago has now motivated my career move: the goal of strengthening and protecting Tennessee’s family values.

We don’t need to look far to see that our families are hurting. Unfriendly laws, objectionable entertainment and poor role models have weakened family life in Tennessee since I was a child. Broken families produce broken societies, but strong families produce strong societies. Which is why at FACT our focus is on the family. We believe that families flourish when they embrace time-tested Judeo-Christian values such as respect for life, religious liberty, and sexuality within marriage. A healthy future for our children requires our commitment to moral standards such as these, so FACT strives to promote these values, particularly in state policy.

FACT hopes to become a valuable resource for your family, your church and your community. We seek to do this through both education and advocacy. This Web site contains practical articles on family life and important research on cultural issues that may affect your family. Our aim is to make our site a ready resource for anyone who wants to stay on top of events and policies that will impact family life in our state—and what we as concerned citizens can do to make a positive difference.
