Internship Opportunities

The Family Action Council of Tennessee (FACT) and its political affiliate, Family Action of Tennessee, are offering internships to students having earned 90 hours or more of academic credit in the areas of politics and communications. Applicants must have a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and a demonstrated Christian commitment.

Who We Are

FACT and Family Action are Tennessee-based not for profit organizations whose missions are “to promote and defend a culture that values the traditional family, for the sake of the common good.” These organizations seek to accomplish this mission by engaging public opinion, fostering informed citizens who understand their civic responsibly, and influencing public policy. The two affiliated organizations are directed by David Fowler, a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law, a member of the Tennessee state Senate for 12 years, and former instructor at Bryan College.

What to Expect

Internships are available for the fall and spring semesters. It is not required that the student reside in the Nashville area during the period of the internship. However, it is in the student’s interest that he or she have at least one experience at the state Capitol during the internship. In view of the nature of the internship and the responsibilities associated with it, preference will be given, when possible, to students who are able to intern for both semesters. The number of hours committed to the internship per week is negotiable based on the number of academic credit hours the student is to earn, but it is expected that a student will need to commit at least 10 to 12 hours per week. FACT and Family Action will work with the educational institution to the extent that additional academic responsibilities are required of the student.
