In America today, it is said that half of all marriages end in divorce; millions of teens engage in drinking, drug use and sex; and each year 1 million children die before they have the chance to be born. These and other social ills are rooted in broken families. The Family Action Council of Tennessee (FACT) wants to help.

Strengthening families is key to eliminating much of this suffering and hardship in our nation. Convinced of this need, David Fowler retired in 2006 after years of service as a Tennessee state senator to launch FACT, a grassroots network of concerned citizens.

• OUR MISSION is to promote and defend a culture that values the traditional family, for the sake of the common good.

We believe that healthy families and communities come about when basic values from the Bible are embraced and upheld. Even those who may not believe everything in the Bible have found it hard to overlook its long track record of creating stable societies. Neglecting commonsense biblical values contributes to many of our nation’s current ills like crime, disease, divorce, “unwanted” pregnancies, teen suicide and academic failure.

• OUR VALUES include healthy families, respect for life, sexuality within marriage, and religious liberty. When the family protects these time-tested values, they in turn protect the family.

We believe churches, families and individuals are best equipped to foster these values. And we believe that government should not work against them. Our desire is to provide educational resources for each of these to function in their respective areas of responsibility.

• OUR ORGANIZATION is a nonprofit corporation organized under the laws of Tennessee and section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It is governed by a volunteer board of directors from across the state.
